A Checklist for Finding the Right Home
Buying one of the
many available homes in The Hills, Bedminster, NJ, can be an
overwhelming process because it’s the most important purchase
you will make in your entire life. Most people purchase a new
home with the intent of living there for the greater part of
their lives. Building equity and paying off the mortgage are
major financial concerns. And finding the right home that fits
all of your wants and needs is equally as important. When you
purchase a new home, you want to be sure that you will enjoy
living in it and that you can afford it as well. If you are
planning on purchasing a New Jersey home in the near future, the
following checklist will help keep you organized and focused on
finding the right home.
• Find an agent
The first thing you need to do is to find a reliable and
honest real estate agent who will put you first. He or she
should make a list of everything you are looking for in a home,
and find homes that fall within your price range. He or she
should care more about helping you find the right home rather
than anything else. The best real estate agents are found
through referrals from family and friends. But you can also set
up appointments to meet with two or three agents in order to
“interview” them to see if they would be a good fit.
• Get pre-approved for a mortgage
You won’t be able to make an offer on a house unless you
have been pre-approved for a mortgage. This is an important step
in the home-buying process. It’s relatively simple to do, and it
will help you figure out whether or not you are eligible for a
mortgage and how much you can realistically afford.
• Decide which area is right for you
Finding the right New Jersey home involves more than just
size, space and details. It also involves the area in which the
home is situated. Ask yourself — which area is right for my
family and I? Do you prefer a rural or suburban area? Would you
be happy living in a secure gated community such as available
homes in the Hills Bedminster NJ? Or do you enjoy the hustle and
bustle of urban city life? These are important questions that
you need to answer before you start your home search.
• Decide which kind of house is right for you
All New Jersey homes are not created equal. Decide what type
of home would best fit your needs. For example, if you have a
large family then you will most likely want a two-story home
with lots of space and a big yard. If you live by yourself, a
small ranch home might suffice. You don’t want to waste time
looking at homes that are too small or too big.
• Decide which amenities matter most
Some homes have more amenities than others. It’s important
to know which ones matter more than others. For example, a pool
might be a great amenity but is it a deal breaker. Write down
the most important amenities first, such as closet space,
garage, a gourmet kitchen or a big backyard. Any additional
amenities will serve as an added bonus. |
